Interview with the winner of the medhochzwei scholarship Paul Greve

How did you get started as a healthcare lawyer?

"Even during my time as a law student, I was enthusiastic about medical law issues and have since focused my career on the healthcare sector. Due to the strong regulation of the health care system, good lawyers are, in my opinion, extremely important for the individual players.”

Why did you decide to study at the University of Bayreuth?

“The thematic structure of the course is ideal for my goals and needs. In addition, the time model of the block events at the weekend can be combined very well with my work and family life. Last but not least, the reputation of the University of Bayreuth was an important factor.”

What do you expect from this course? What are your expectations?

"In particular, I hope to acquire or deepen my knowledge of health economics and develop leadership and management skills."

Are there any topics that you would like to discuss with the lecturers and students?

"I am particularly looking forward to a diverse exchange on current health economic issues and health policy challenges, such as the future design of hospital and emergency structures."

The medhochzwei scholarship 2022 goes to Paul Greve

The full scholarship for the extra-occupational MBA Health Care Management course at the University of Bayreuth includes funding of €17,200.

The final decision was made by the selection committee as part of a multi-stage online assessment center on July 15. This year, the committee was represented by Prof. Dr. Frank Daumann and Prof. Dr. Jörg Schluechtermann, as well as the managing director of the medhochzwei publishing house, Mrs. Julia Rondot, and the president of the Association of German Hospital Doctors, Mr. PD Dr. Michael Weber.

The candidates had to face various tasks and critical questions from the selection committee. The 34-year-old lawyer Paul Greve, who completed a further course in "Medical Law" after studying law, was convincing. He is currently employed as a compliance officer at Klinikum Vest GmbH and heads the Legal & Compliance department. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer for “law in health and social affairs”. The scholarship enables Mr. Paul Greve, LL.M. to start the part-time MBA course in Health Care Management at the University of Bayreuth from October 14, 2022.

First face-to-face event in a year

After a long time, we were able to welcome our students back to the university premises. We are pleased that many students have taken advantage of the presence offer and hope that we can continue to hold face-to-face events. But we also keep up with the times:

In the future, all students will still have the opportunity to participate in our events via zoom.

First face-to-face event and at the same time last MBA event of the 2019 class

In mid-July 2021, the MBA class of 2019 completed the last event weekend of the two-year master’s degree. The course participants who were able to take part on site were particularly looking forward to this weekend. For more than a year, due to the pandemic, the fellow students could only see each other digitally via the Zoom streaming platform. The joy of meeting at least once more in person on the campus of the University of Bayreuth was all the greater.

MBA Health Care Management and DGGÖ - Committee "Supply and Remuneration" sign a cooperation agreement

Today we are pleased to announce the cooperation between the MBA Health Care Management Bayreuth and the "Supply and Remuneration" committee of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gesundheitökonomie e. V. (DGGÖ) to announce.

MBA Health Care Management students benefit from the cooperation

Through the cooperation, students of the Master's degree in Health Care Management gain access to exclusive events of the DGGÖ - Committee "Care and Remuneration".

The cooperation is an important milestone for the MBA HCM in order to distinguish the already excellent HCM master's degree from other further education courses. Due to its high scientific quality in the areas of science and research in combination with its action-oriented work, the DGGÖ's "Supply and Remuneration" committee is an ideal partner for students of the HCM master's program.

The DGGÖ – Committee for Care and Remuneration

The DGGÖ (currently with 727 members) is one of the leading scientific societies for health economics in Germany and promotes science, research and scientific policy advice in the field of health economics. Among other things, it makes it its task to disseminate health economic findings to the public and to represent them in parliaments and governments.

The DGGÖ committee for care and remuneration (currently with 61 members) consists of scientists and practitioners. The side of the service providers is represented as well as the side of the payers, the economists and the health care researchers. The committee has set itself the goal of identifying problems in care, picking out individual issues and making a constructive contribution to dealing with them. There is a lively exchange between science and practice. Practice-relevant research questions are taken up and practice-relevant research results are quickly made accessible to the decision-makers concerned.

Concrete work in the DGGÖ Committee "Care and Remuneration"

In addition to taking part in an exclusive workshop in July, the MBA HCM students have the opportunity to take part in the annual conferences as part of their membership in the DGGÖ Committee "Care and Remuneration". Under a core topic, among other things, keynote speeches and discussions are carried out in these. Issues that have been raised can then be dealt with, for example, in the form of short theses papers or case studies.

This year, the topic "health economic aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic" will be deepened and supplemented by current health care policy reform processes relevant to care. In addition to critical monitoring of current developments in the area of supply structures and remuneration instruments, long-term issues and possible alternatives are also pursued.

Exclusive participation in the committee meeting on July 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom

One of the first opportunities offered to MBA HCM students by working together is to attend the next committee meeting. The participants receive an interesting insight into the topic "Opportunities and challenges of intersectoral care from the point of view of the Swiss private hospital group Hirslanden" from Mr. Marco Gugolz, CEO of the Hirslanden Clinic Zurich. This will be followed by an exciting panel discussion with Mr. Marco Gugolz, in which the participants can direct their personal questions to Mr. Marco Gugolz.
